"All because of you"

Last night, at Alpha, we discussed prayer. Our collective view of prayer was that it is an informal two-way conversation that enhances our personal connection with our creator.

For me, God speaks in many different ways... Not in GWBush ways - I don't hear voices or anything. He plants ideas... He opens doors and presents me with opportunities... or closes doors and makes it apparent that the way is no longer appropriate.

We can stand in thin-places... beautiful places where you feel that Heaven is near... Tinto is a thin-place for me.

One way God speaks to me is through music... I think there is a musical equivalent to the thin-place where the song brings you closer to God. I tend not to look for the obvious and enjoy finding and ascribing personal meaning to songs I just love.

One of my favs just now is "all because of you" by U2 - really love their stuff just now and have found few thin-places within "how to dismantle an atomic bomb"...
I was born a child of grace
Nothing else about the place
Everything was ugly but your beautiful face
And it left me no illusion

I saw you in the curve of the moon
In the shadow cast across my room
You heard me in my tune
When I just heard confusion

All because of you
All because of you
All because of you
I am... I am

I like the sound of my own voice
I didn't give anyone else a choice
An intellectual tortoise
Racing with your bullet train

Some people get squashed crossing the tracks
Some people got high rises on their backs
I'm not broke but you can see the cracks
You can make me perfect again

All because of you
All because of you
All because of you
I am... I am

I'm alive
I'm being born
I just arrived, I'm at the door
Of the place I started out from
And I want back inside

All because of you
All because of you
All because of you
I am
U2 - Lyrics: Bono

Anyone wish to share their thin-places?
