both/ and

"Whereas the heady polarities of our day seek to divide us into an either-or camp, the mark of the emerging church will be its emphasis on both-and."
Larson, Osborne, The Emerging Church (1970), p10. (taken from ourdailyblog)

I see the future of church, and modern life, as being plural - both/ and - and am glad to see this quote from The Emerging Church by Larson & Osborne via ourdailyblog It is true that we have certain core values that can not change and I am not suggesting that this is part of a bigger inter-faith discussion... What I am saying is that the church is broad and should welcome everyone...

Last weekend I had the privilege to see the West of Scotland SA Youth Band play on the same bill as an upbeat "praise" band... it worked because it because the focus was not on them or what they were performing but who they were performing for. It is so easy to be divided but we have to move away from the world's forms of categorisation and demonstrate our love through acceptance and warmth amd understanding.
