Christian Wrestling Federation

CHECK THIS OUT!!!

Normally I am a little sceptical with events/ groups who place "Christian" in front of their event. I see it as a marketing ploy or a means to kind of justify "grey area" behaviour... such as the Christian Naturist Camp I posted on ages ago...

However, this is legit and needs to be congratulated! My new blogging pal, Jonathan B from Stranger in a Strange Land gave me the heads up to the Christian Wrestling Federation Its a full on ministry that uses wrestling as an introduction for the good news:
The Bible says we are to use unique and different ways to reach people for Christ. This is what the CWF is all about... reaching people in a unique way. With wrestlings' popularity at an all-time high, many people can be reached...
Wow! The future is plural...and all avenues should be pursued!
Where I'm from wrestling has a reach - a few of the young guns in my church are/ were WWF fans. Personally, I don't get it - its like a brutal form of ballet... but hey, its not for me to get - I'm not their target audience. For me it was always the green Hulk and not Hulk Hogan!
You can just imagine the pre-game banter between folk like "Jesus Freak", "Angel", "Jonah", "Jeramy Jett" and "Impressive Antony"...
Jesus Freak: "When I get there... I said when I get there... I am going get in that ring and just heep a whole bowl of love on that dude, Angel"
Angel: "Not if I get there first... I am gonna whoop his butt with ma forgiveness"
JF: "Who you kiddin' fool... I love you more!!!"
A: "No way, fool... If anyone's gonna do the lovin'... its gonna be me!!!" etc etc
I'm only joking... I certainly don't want any of them hunting me down - big, big guys!

Putting this in perspective, here's 1 Corinthians 9:19-22 (the Message)...
"Even though I am free of the demands and expectations of everyone, I have voluntarily become a servant to any and all in order to reach a wide range of people: religious, nonreligious, meticulous moralists, loose-living immoralists, the defeated, the demoralized--whoever. I didn't take on their way of life. I kept my bearings in Christ--but I entered their world and tried to experience things from their point of view. I've become just about every sort of servant there is in my attempts to lead those I meet into a God-saved life. "
It might seem funny/ strange/ alien to you but some folk really dig wrestling... so check it out and give the CWF your support.

Thanks Jonathan for the heads-up. Keep up the good work, bro.

BTW... thanks for the post mate. (Can I say that even though I'm Texan?)
I think you caught what our goal/message is. To reach the unreachables.
We had over 120 people at our last show, many of those would never step foot in a church.
But they'll come to see wrestling and hear the gospel as well.
It still gives me chills to think of the one decision at that show.
I asked for a show of hands and he stood in the middle of the room with his hand raised.
He wanted to know the Jesus he had heard about all night.
Awesome.
Anyways, we'll be heading to Nigeria in Oct. Pray that God will continue to use our ministry while we perform for the predominately Muslim country.
We're fired up and ready to go. But I think the hardest part will be letting go of all the details and logistics and just letting God.
Thanks again.
