The greatest enemy to the movement of Jesus Christ is Christianity

I love this quote because I believe it to be true ::
The greatest enemy to the movement of Jesus Christ is Christianity
Erwin McManus :: The Barbarian Way

I used it when I was speaking about faith with the Soos. It is just such a powerful and meaningful quote. It speaks of all that's wrong with corporate, right-wing, Western Christianity today. Its as if the Church has become the Pharisees that opposed Jesus all those years ago.

I have a lot of time for Erwin McManus and plan to read the Barbarian Way as soon as I get through some of the other books I have in my pile. I would heartly recommend the Mosaic Podcast to anyone who believes Erwin's quote above. He really has a grasp of what this person who was God called Jesus was all about.

Hi Thomas,

The greatest enemy to the movement of Jesus in my life pre August 1995 was me (and then the call to officership came after 'me' was dealt with). Praise God!

That was before I got saved at music school (1995). One lasting memory of that meeting was the young people kneeling at the cross was shaped by gym benches.

How powerful that is, that our lives need to be shaped, to be fit for life in His service, cos he went to the cross for the whole world and the whole world don't know it because the greatest enemy to the movement of Jesus Christ for the whole world is Christianity.

Another memory of that meeting in August 1995 was actually Olwyn singing, 'Lord, release your fire'.
Lord, did he just do that even for me. I've got a colleague singing it on CD as a reminder and oh do I need that reminder and so does the world.

Blessings, Matthew (Kirkwall)

PS your blog still amazes me, cool!
