Loving ... "reBOOT" an rM Sampler

One of my favourite netlabels - relaxed Machinery - has released an utterly delightful compilation to celebrate their fourth anniversary.

reBOOT features some of my all-time favourite ambient musicians: folks like Chris Russell, Steve Brand, äpne sine, Chronotope Project, Frore and Peter James contribute towards nearly 2 1/2 hours of ambience.

The collection is rather remarkable and well worth checking out ... with tracks by Chris Russell and Chronotope Project particularly grabbing me.

In fact, I was so impressed with this release that I dedicated my 8th Circumambient mix to the music featured on reBOOT. Have a wee listen below:

circumambient 007

Before Christmas I contracted whooping cough and have been laying low since Christmas Eve ... other than a wee trip to East Kilbride and visits to both sets of parents. During this time I've been giving some thought to the things I do ... one of them being the wee mixes I used to do over on circumambient.co.uk and mixcloud.

As such ... a new episode of circumambient is now up for you to listen to. Have a wee listen below and if you like what you hear head over to circumambient.co.uk to grab the download.

All tracks come from my netlabel's end-of-year compilation - "...ending the year on a high 2013 (waag_com002)" - which is available for free.

Enjoy.

I hope you like... and please support the artists by checking out their albums on bandcamp or netlabels... and throwing them a couple of bucks, as appropriate.

Lovin' you... another wee mixtape from me to you

This week's mixtape is what happens when I miss my wife... I won't elaborate any further other than to say

"she... completes me!"

The mix is pretty random... jumping from one genre to another... but then love, the theme of the mixtape, is pretty random too. This kind of eclecticism is becoming my thing... and I hope you dig it too.

As always... please support the artists and take the time to tell the one you love... that you love them.

All we need is love!

Music Monday :: "dancin' in the dark..." a mixtape for @cowpunkmom

OK... so the story goes like this:

@jdblundell: "@cowpunkmom you might be able to talk @headphonaught into creating a dance mix. :-) #DanceDancePartyParty"

To which both Paula aka @cowpunkmom and I said "yeah... ok"

After much humming and hawing... tweaking of playlists and hours of listening then relistening... out pops a wee dance mix to enjoy.

Now... my dancing days are behind me... some may argue they were never in front of me... but I've brought together some of my fave big beat/techno/drum and bass/electro faves into 70mins of sonic joy.

If your soul doesn't giggle and your bum doesn't shoogle to these beats then there is something wrong and you should seek professional help... right now.

Here's the tracklisting:

I think this mix will be pretty good in the gym. I hope to give it a whirl sometime soon.

So yeah... I hope you like?! If you do, please support the artists featured.

Apologies for the delay in dropping this tape... but its been a busy week. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do... I've been listening to it on and off pretty much all week / weekend.

"everything looks perfect from far away" :: another wee mixtape for you

Here's another wee mixtape for you... with the title taken from the opening track. Was really feeling "indie electronica" this week and I think it shows in the line up ::

You can download it here... its heftier than normal because I had a clear out and deleted the original file before I created a ligher version.  Oops!  It is, however, worth the extra wait... trust me.

Oh and, as always, please take the time to support the artists you dig.

dark have been my dreams of late___ (another wee mixtape)

Here is my latest mixtape... later than I would like and darker than normal with more of an electronica vibe albeit with some fab guitar-based indie "classics" and some remixes to spread the load.

Enjoy... and please support the artists included in the compilation.

I hope its something you appreciate. If you do... please let me know.
